Abby Fichtner spoke this morning about the idea of the “Adjacent Possible” — specifically, the idea that the “startup” is really a tool we can use to expand the realm of possibility by building on past creations.

This reminded me of this old post by Matt Might, a professor at the University of Utah, on the process of getting a Ph.D:
The Illustrated Guide to the Ph.D

It’s definitely something worth keeping in mind as we get deep in the weeds and start building: while we’re pushing to create the “new possible”, it’s helpful (and healthy!) to occasionally poke our heads up and get a wider perspective.

And then get back to pushing.
