Today was a day unlike the rest. Rather than start us off with speakers and insight, we switched right into application. The morning was spent reviewing projects from Idea Jam 1, after which we assembled in the area for our track. That’s where things got interesting. Are we watching a video? No. Are we listening to a speaker? No. Instead, we got a challenge: Go out, and find food for the class. Not only that, do it without spending any money.
We paired off, and split off, determined to find coffee, breakfast, lunch, or anything else that might be considered edible for the class. In the morning (before the lunch rush) Annaliese (my partner) and I called and emailed, looked on Twitter, and checked on leads. In the afternoon, we took a walk to Central Square where we grabbed a quick bite, then beat the pavement (and the heat) walking from store to store, speaking to managers and owners. This was fantastic for the two of us, since it gave us the chance to flex our sales muscles, put a little of what we’ve been taught to practice, adjust , and re-apply as necessary. Success, I feel, is only a phone call or email away… I’m just not sure who will be on the other end of the communication!

So what’s for lunch??
